Everyone connected with Longford Phoenix Basketball Club would like to express their condolences to committee members Padraic McWeeney and Martina Kelly on their recent family bereavements. Our thoughts and prayers are with Padraic, Martina, and their families at this difficult time.
Phoenix Men
Our Men's team hosted Castlerea Cavaliers in the LLR League on Saturday afternoon in the Mall, with the visitors coming out on top, winning by 72 points to 51.
Benny McGerr top-scored for the Phoenix with 23 points and was the only player to hit double digits. Jakub Safiak knocked down 9 points, Jamie Mulligan scored five points, and Neil Kilbane fired in four points.
Maciej Malec and Jakub Pasieczny both registered three points, while Prosper Chukwu Ede and Ian Walsh scored two points each. Adelolapo Mubarak also got some game time.
Under-14 Boys
Both our under-14 Boys teams were in action over the weekend. Our White team recorded a comprehensive 60-20 victory over Ballinamore Blazers in their LLR League clash.
Our Green team travelled to Maynooth for their Midlands League Division 1 meeting with the North Kildare Eagles. Unfortunately, despite leading for the majority of the contest, a very strong final quarter earned the hosts a narrow 46-41 victory.
