LLR Ladies League
Our Ladies 2 team kept their top-four ambitions alive with a six-point victory at home to Castlerea Cavaliers on Saturday in the Mall. Longford coming out on top by 37 points to 31.
They also travelled to table-toppers Sligo All-Stars earlier in the week. Despite some impressive offence, shooting 50 points, they eventually lost by 83 points to 50.
Rebecca Higgins & Rachel Penrose top-scored for the Phoenix with 12 points each. Eimear Branigan fired home seven points, Amy Finnegan and Aideen Mulligan both knocked down six points. Erica Jordan scored three points, while Leah Quinn and Alex Lee both got two points each.
Our Ladies 1 team have back-to-back fixtures against the Drumlish Dragons this week. The first game is on tonight in the Mall Sports complex at 8-45pm, with the second derby meeting taking place this Friday in Saint Mel’s College at 8-15pm.
LLR Men’s League
This coming Saturday, our men travel to Carrick Cougars in the Carrick-on-Shannon Sports Complex with the game tipping-off at 8pm.
Under 18 Boys Midlands League
Both our Under 18 Boys team took on Athlone away over the weekend and it was a victory for the ‘B’ team but defeat for our ‘A’ team. The results were;
Athlone A 39 Phoenix A 31
Athlone B 33 Phoenix B 60
Under-16 Boys Midlands League
Our Phoenix white team suffered a narrow two point defeat at home to their Athlone counterparts with the visitors edging the game by two points 47-49.
Under-14 Girls Midlands League
Our U14 Girls played a very close and entertaining game at home to Ballyroan Stars in Saint Mel’s College over the weekend and produced a sterling display to win 28-21.
