Longford Slashers claimed their first Longford senior football championship victory after beating Mullinalaghta 0-10 to 0-7.
Longford Slashers utilised the strong breeze to their advantage in the first half. They led 0-6 to 0-4 at the break.
Robbie Clarke and Darragh O’Connell were among Slashers’ main scorers during the opening period. Jayson Matthews accounted for all of Mullinalaghta’s tally.
Cian Mackey and Robbie Clarke traded scores after the restart as it remained a two-point game. Slashers goalkeeper Eoin McGuinness made it a three-point game on 47 minutes.
The sides traded a point each thereafter as Slashers held on for a three-point victory.
