Longford Slashers opened their 2022 Peter Hanley motors championship campaign with a six point win over Granard.
Joe Kelly’s goal a minute into first-half injury time made a telling difference as slashers won out 1-15 to 1-9.
Slashers raced into a three point to no score lead after 12 minutes. Granard rallied and levelled the game at four points apiece on 25 minutes.
The sides exchanged points before Kelly’s injury time goal swung the game in Slashers favour.
Slashers built a six point lead before Charlie Martin’s 45th minute goal brought the game back to three points. 1-10 to 1-7.
However Slashers had more in the forward line over the final quarter finding five points to Dromard two and sealing victory.
Elsewhere Dromard opened the group one campaign with a 28 point win over a heavily depleted St. Brigids Killashee. Dromard winning out 4-19 to three points.
