Longford Slashers booked their place in the Longford football semi-final beating Rathcline in a goal fest.
Slashers won out 6-15 to 2-11 with six goals all coming in the opening half.
Slashers raced into a 1-4 to no score lead on nine minutes. Daire O’Brien’s seventh minute goal adding to his mark and a free. A Robbie Clarke free and a Darragh O’Connell point from play making the slashers scores.
Bryn Peters found the net for Rathcline on 11 minutes, two minutes later Ruairi Clarke scored Slashers second goal. Tadhg McNevin found slashers third goal on 16 minutes.
Rathcline never gave in, even allowing for conceding three goals. Oran Kenny’s 24th minute penalty and two Oisin Sullivan points made it 2-6 to 3-6.
However Gerard Flynn found the Rathcline net again bang on half-time to leave it 4-6 to 2-6 for Slashers.
Oran Kenny opened the second-half scoring for Rathcline immediately on the restart. Slashers however had another gear.
Daire O’Brien kicked a goal and a pointed inside 60 seconds. Cian O’Nualain found Slashers sixth goal on the 40th minute.
That finished the game as a contest. O’Nualain and Daire O’Brien kicked further points each as slashers ran their bench and won out 6-15 to 2-11.
