Longford retained division three status for another year following victory over Tipperary in the Allianz Football League relegation play-off at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
Padraic Davis’ side led seven points to five at half-time but were much the better side in the second half winning 1-13 to 0-9 in the end.
The sides were deadlocked at four points apiece after 18 minutes with Dessie Reynolds, Rian Brady, Darren Gallagher and Joseph Hagan on target for the hosts.
Longford added three more scores before Conor Sweeney replied with one for Tipperary leaving two points between them at the break.
The Premier County restored parity in the 46th minute after landing three of the first four points after the resumption. Longford responded in style and Dessie Reynolds found the back of the net a minute later.
Oran Kenny subsequently added another point resulting in a four-point cushion for the Midlanders at the second water break.
Longford completely dominated the final quarter outscoring Tipperary four points to one and ran out convincing winners. Rian Brady (two), David McGivney and Darragh Doherty all got their names on the scoresheet for the hosts in the closing stages.
