The league of Ireland resumed after the mid-season break as Longford Town’s winless run continued.
Jordan Tallon’s 65th minute equaliser ensuring a share of the spoils in this drab affair at Bishopsgate writes Tony Ghee.
The visitors showed their intention from the off. 60 seconds were not on the clock when Ryan Rainey blasted over the Town bar from a corner.
Five minutes later, Harps took the lead. Success Edogun combined with Patrick Ferry to open up the Town defence. Ferry slotting home from close range.
The hosts had their first chance on 13 minutes. Kyle O’Connor’s cross was met by Jordan Adeyemo’s 15-yard diving header but Harps’ keeper Tim Oliver-Heimer produced a smart save.
Harps came close to doubling their lead eight minutes later. Edogun and Ferry combined again, this time the home side had a lucky escape as Ferry’s close-range shot rattled the post.
Viktor Serdeniuk headed a Bastien Hery free over the Finn Haprs bar on 27 minutes. A minute later another Hery free resulted in Dean O’Shea’s header striking the post.
The last real opportunity of the half came the way of the visitors. 37 minutes where on the clock when Tony McNamee’s glancing header flashed wide of Jack Brady’s far post.
Harps almost made it 2-1 six minutes into the second-half. Jamie Watson diagonal ball found Edogun, but his shot was saved by Brady.
Two minutes later Ferry shot across the face of the Town goal with his effort going narrowly wide.
Longford Town equalised just before the hour mark! Ross Fay opened up the Harps defence and Jordan Tallon rattling the net from 14-yards.
Finn Harps produced the next four chances but Town keeper Brady thwarted the visitors each time.
Brady brilliantly saved a close-range Edogun on 81 minutes. A minute later, Brady saved a deflected 22-yard curling effort from substitute Gavin McAteer. On 83 minutes after Brady made another good save from Max Johnston.
Finally, with Edogun clean through with Brady to beat. Brady kept his composure to make a stunning save.
The result leaves Longford Town bottom of the League of Ireland first division with just two wins all season. Town have collected just four points from the last 18.
