Longford Town are now 21 games without a league win a 2-0 defeat to Derrry city at Bishopsgate.
A goal in each half from Danny Lafferty and Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe proved decisive as Town never offered any real threat in front of goal.
Town could have broken the deadlock inside the first minute when Aaron McNally’s close range shot was deflected wide.
Derry took the lead on 31 minutes James Akintunde found Laffery in the box who riffled past Lee Steacy.
On 58 minutes Evan McLaughlin could have doubled Derry’s advantage as his 20-yard effort whistled wide. Five minutes later substitute Bastien Hery setup Akintunde who shot straight at Lee Steacy from the edge of the box.
Derry moved 2-nill up seven minutes from time as Akintunde’s through ball found Junior who fired home close range.
Three minutes from time Matthew O’Brien had town’s best effort with a 25-yeard free kick which missed the target.
