Longford Town fell to a third defeat in-a-row as Cobh Ramblers scored a 1-0 victory in St. Colman’s park.
Jack Larkin’s free header on 68 minutes the difference between the two sides as Longford fell to their 15th defeat of the season.
Longford pushed for an equaliser, but Cobh defending deeply. Jordan Adeyemo had a chance to equalise in the 89th minute. However, the ball rolled wide as Cobh won 1-0.
Elsewhere, Charlie Lyons struck in the eighth minute of added time to prevent Cork City suffering just a second defeat of the season. Cork salvaging a 1-1 draw away to Treaty United.
Second placed Athlone Town came from 3-1 down at home to Kerry to draw 3-3. Whereas, UCD were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Wexford. While Bray boosted their playoff hopes with a 2-1 win away to Finn Harps.
Tonight’s results leave Longford Town bottom of the SSE Airtricity first division on 17 points, four points behind Kerry. Kerry now have a better goal difference -22 to -10.
