A late show from Jordan Adeyemo and Sam Verdon saw Longford grab three points over Waterford in the RSC.
The hosts looked odds on to claim the victory leading 1-0 until the final six minutes. Verdon’s winner came five minutes into stoppage time.
Waterford took the lead on 18 minutes when Shane Griffin side footed Tunmise Sobowale’s cross into the net.
Waterford were reduced to 10 men a minute before half-time. Wassim Aouachira saw red after a clash with Longford’s Adam Robinson.
The second-half was delayed after a floodlight failure and it looked like the hosts had done enough to claim all the points.
Longford equalised on 84 minutes when Dean McMenamy’s deflected shot found its way to Adeyemo who slotted a right-footed shot home.
Town went from broke against the 10 men and claimed victory in the 95th minute as Sam Verdon headed Dylan Barnett’s corner home for an important win.
