Longford Town remain rooted to the bottom of the First Division table following a 3-0 defeat to Bray Wanderers at Bishopsgate.
Stephen Henderson’s men were completely outclassed, their winless run has now extended to eight matches.
Town have now drawn two blanks in succession and failed to record a single shot on target during the entire contest.
The opening quarter was massively devoid of goalmouth action. However, the game’s first meaningful chance fell the way of the visitors on 20 minutes.
Paul Murphy connected with Kieran Cruise’s free-kick, but his looping header lacked conviction and missed the target.
Bray dominated the possession stakes and three minutes later, Ian Ryan’s men could’ve taken the lead.
Conor Knight sent Peter Grogan away down the right, the latter pulled it back for Kieran Cruise, but the Bray winger hit the side netting.
Jack Brady was called into action on the stroke of half-time. The Town goalkeeper produced a fingertip save to deny Shane Griffin from 40 yards out.
Bray second-half onslaught
Bray threatened again five minutes into the second half. Peter Grogan connected with Shane Griffin’s free-kick, but couldn’t direct his header on target.
The visitors eventually took the lead on 52 minutes. Oisin Hand hesitated to clear Cruise’s long ball, Grogan capitalised and calmly fired home inside the box.
Bray doubled their advantage 12 minutes later. Peter Grogan and Conor Knight combined to set up Max Murphy.
The Bray wing-back found himself in oceans of space and found the net with a superb first-time effort.
Brady was called into action again on 71 minutes. The Town goalkeeper repelled Shane Griffin’s 25-yard free-kick.
Bray could’ve added another goal six minutes later. Freddie Turley connected with Cruise’s left-wing cross, but his cushioned header missed the target.
Bray added a third goal ten minutes from time. Karl Chambers gifted possession to Harry Groome, the later rifled the ball to the net from 20 yards out.
The game petered out thereafter as Town suffered a fifth defeat of the season. Contrastingly, Bray now have back-to-back victories for the first time during the campaign.
Longford Town have now suffered back-to-back defeats and are bottom of the league.
