Longford Town have parted company with their manager Stephen Henderson, the club has confirmed.
The news emerges following the 3-0 defeat at home to Bray Wanderers, Town’s fifth defeat from their opening eight games.
Assistant managers Gavin Peers and Wayne Groves will take charge of the side on an interim basis.
Longford Town issued an official statement after the Bray defeat saying “The club has tonight parted ways with manager Stephen Henderson.
“The club would like to express our gratitude to Stephen for his dedicated efforts during his time with the club.
“Gavin Peers and Wayne Groves will take charge of the first team on an interim basis.
“The club will be making no further comment at this time."
Longford Town are currently bottom of the SSE Airtricity First Division after eight games. A position not seen since the days before Stephen Kenny arrived as manager.
