Daniel Norris 66th minute free kick stunned Bray Wanderers as Longford Town recorded a rare home victory.
Longford were under pressure from the majority of this tie. However, Norris strike saw Town record their second win of the season over Bray.
The victory was just Longford's fourth of the season and first since beating Bray on July 4th in the Carlisle grounds.
After a poor start it was the hosts who had the opening chance of note. Ross Fay releasing Daniel Norris whose shot was easily dealt with by James Corcoran.
The effort woke Bray up somewhat. Ben Feeney allowed too much time to run and shoot. Harry Halwax batting the shot away.
Bray should have taken the lead moments later. Eric Yoro not dealing with a long punt, allowing it bounce away from him.
Feeney pounced but Halwax was quick to shut out the Bray forward.
The visitors came closest to opening the scoring. Guillermo Almirall 25-yard free wasnt far off the target.
Two minutes later and Cole Omorehiomwan should have given Bray the lead. Omorehiomwan with a free header from Shane Grffin's free.
However, he couldnt direct it on target, leaving the sides scoreless at the break.
Just 60 seconds after the restart and the referee showed the first red card of the game to Bray coach Lorcan Fitzgearld.
Bray had the first effort of the second-half. Kieran Cruise shot from just inside the box, well blocked by Jamie Egan, six minutes after the restart.
Longford score against the run of play
It was against the run of play, albeit limited play that Longford took the lead. Daniel Norris with a 66th minute free from the edge of the box, curling the ball low around the wall and into the bottom left corner.
Bray came close to equalising on 74 minutes, Darrren Craven's 30-yard blast coming back off the post.
The visitors had the next chance three minutes later. A good team move involving Omorehiomwan, Feeney and substitute Cristian Magerusan. Ended with Magerusan hitting the side net.
That was the closest Bray came to a goal as Longford held out for a rare win.
