Longford Town stayed in the hunt for a first division play-off spot with a one-nil win over Finn Harps.
The win see’s Town move to sixth place in the first division table, four points behind Wexford who occupy the fourth play-off spot.
Cristian Magerusan’s 19th minute goal, enough to give Longford Town victory in Finn Park.
Harps came close to equalising four minutes into the second-half. Patrick Ferry found space but his effort was straight at Jack Brady.
Harps were then reduced to 10 men on 64 minutes, Matthew Makinson was show red for a lunge on O'Brien-Whitmarsh.
Longford came close to doubling their lead 13 minutes from time. A town corner worked its way back to Dylan Hand whose shot is just over the bar.
Six minutes from full-time, Jack Brady produced an excellent save to deny Ryan Flood. The rebound fell to Aaron McLaughlins whose shot was blocked down.
Bastien Hery nearly made it two-nil on 90 minutes his shot whistling over the bar.
Elsewhere, Galway United took another step towards the First Division title with a 4-1 win at home to Cobh Ramblers.
Whereas, Cameron Creswell’s early penalty gave Waterford a 1-0 win at Bray Wanderers. Creswell was later sent-off. Wexford strengthened their playoff hopes with a 2-nil win away to Athlone.
While, Treaty United were 3-1 winners at home to Kerry.
