Longford Town scored a surprise 3-0 win over Wexford in Ferrycarrig Park.
Town took the lead five minutes before half-time, Beineon O'Brien Whitmarsh heading home a right wing cross.
Longford were 2-0 up three minutes later. O’Brien Whitmarsh was central again find Jamal Ibrahim in space. Ibrahim’s cross found Josh Giurgi who converted.
Wexford went close to pulling one back moments later, but stand-in keeper Jack Harrington produced a big save from Aaron Dobbs.
Town made it 3-0 on 63 minutes and it was O’Brien Whitmarsh with his second. Ibrahim was again the provider laying the ball off for O’Brien Whitmarsh to fire home.
Town came close to a fourth with 18 minutes remaining. O’Brien Whitmarsh playing in Giurgi whose shot was well saved by Wexford keeper Noel Heffernan.
An impressive win for Longford Town, their second away win of the season.
The win see's town move up to eighth place in the SSE Airtricity First Division table following tonight's results.
Elsewhere, league leaders Galway United beat Treaty United 3-0 in markets field. Cobh Ramblers drew 2-2 with Athlone Town. Kerry lost out 2-0 at home to Bray Wanderers and Waterford beat Finn Harps 4-0 in Finn park.
