Longford Town fell to a second successive home defeat losing 1 nil to Cobh Ramblers at Bishopsgate.
A 48th minute strike from Ian Turner proved decisive and the visitors came away with a deserved victory.
Town had the first chance where Dylan Hand’s header from a Shane Elworthy free was saved by Ramblers keeper Sean Barron in the sixth minute.
Moments later Town nearly went a goal down when Naythan Coleman intercepted a poor backpass but Town keeper Lee Steacy pulled off a save and deflected the ball out for a corner.
In the 25th minute of the game Cobh made a defensive error themselves by failing to clear the danger from a Longford corner and the ball fell to Joe Manley who shot wide.
Cobh almost took the lead before the interval when Ian Turner hit the corner of the upright from a well-stuck free kick and the game remained scoreless at half-time.
Three minutes after the restart, Turner made amends for his missed effort latching onto a pass from Stephen O’Leary before firing past Lee Stacy.
Town struggled to create chances thereafter and the away side held on for the win.
Daire Doyle’s side must now get at least a draw from their remaining fixture against Wexford at Ferrycarrig Park in just over a weeks time
