Caroline Rhatigan Longford Town’s FAI delegate has been elected to the FAI board.
Caroline Rhatigan will represent the League of Ireland on the FAI board; after defeating incumbent Niamh O’Mahony 20-14 in a ballot of delegates.
Indeed, Cork native O’Mahony was up for re-election ahead of next month’s FAI AGM. Indeed, O'Mahony beat Rhatigan to the position in 2022, 21-18.
The Examiner reports; Both contenders were afforded the opportunity to address delegates on the call in advance of votes being cast. Whereas, Rhatigan citied the chronic underfunding of academies as integral to her manifesto.
“I will prioritise finding ways of bringing in more financial support to improve our league, both men’s and women’s – starting with the Academies,” said Rhatigan.
“I will use my contacts in the political arena to achieve this and improve our ability to thrive, both as a league and as an association.
Rhatigan went on; “I will not shy away from asking the hard questions and don’t give up; which is why I’m back here again.
“I promise that I will have the needs and potential of our chamber at the heart of every action and decision I’m involved in. I’ll always be fair and measured in my approach“.
