Longford soccer star Aodh Dervin has joined Galway United from Shelbourne.
Dervin recently completing a loan spell back at Longford Town from Shelbourne, before joining the first division leaders.
"Galway is a huge club” declared Dervin. “As soon as I heard there was interest I wanted to come. The fans when they're playing have the place rocking and they're flying at the minute so it was a no brainer really."
Indeed, with over 70 appearances in the top flight and an FAI Cup finalist, Dervin is no stranger to the top level of Irish football.
"We're delighted to get Aodh, he's vastly experienced” declared Galway United boss John Caulfield. “We know his strengths, he has tremendous energy and is very good on the ball."
Dervin, was on loan from Shelbourne to Longford Town for the 2023 season, having played 17 times. Dervin scored one goal and grabbed two assists from defensive midfield in the first-half of the season.

Galway United are currently top of the league of Ireland first division on 58 points. 13 points clear of second placed Waterford. Galway have won 19 of 21 games this season.
