MacHale Park has been confirmed as the venue for the Connacht Football quarter-final meeting of Mayo and Galway. It had been feared the Castlebar venue would not be ready for the April 24th game having undergone resurfacing work that saw it out of commission during the league. But the Connacht Council say the game will go ahead there as planned. Both sides moved into their championship preparation on the back of league final defeats with Galway losing out to Roscommon in Division 2 while Mayo were defeated by Kerry in the Division 1 decider. Well know sports broadcaster Shane Hannon remarked however that the 2 panels will continue to strengthen over the coming weeks
The winners of that encounter will face the winners of Leitrim and London who get their campaigns underway this Sunday at 2:30 in Ruslip. Also on Sunday Sligo will take on New York in Gaelic Park.
