Mack Hansen has received a six-week ban after hitting out at referee’s treatment of Connacht.
Additionally, Connacht Rugby (the Club) have received a suspended €10,000 fine related to the Player’s sanction. However, Hansen be free to play for Ireland in the Six Nations.
Hansen was charged with misconduct in breach of Clause 3.2 of the Disciplinary Rules of the BKT United Rugby Championship after comments that he made about the match officiating of the Round 8 Leinster Rugby versus Connacht Rugby game on December 21, 2024.
Those comments included significant criticism of the referee officiating at that match.
Half of the ban has been suspended following an apology from Hansen, who says his comments were 'ill-advised' and fell short of the standards expected of him.
Hansen will miss Connacht's Challenge Cup matches with Lyon and Cardiff. Along with their URC game with Glasgow later this month.
