Leona Maguire is hoping Solheim cup success will increase interest in Irish clubs hosting the event.
Maguire won her singles match as Europe retained the Solheim Cup in dramatic fashion yesterday.
Europe retained the Solheim cup after it finished 14-all with the United States in Spain. Home favourite Carlota Ciganda earning the all-important point for Europe.
The Cavan star was sensational in her second Solheim Cup. Whereas, Maguire won three points from five as Europe came back from 4-0 down on the first morning.
“With the Ryder Cup in a few years, it will be fantastic to see. It would be fantastic” Maguire told the Irish Independent.
"I know there are a few golf clubs interested in Ireland, and then who knows if it's the right time to play, or, yeah, maybe captaining there one day might not be too bad.”
“Look, what Carlota did was fairytale stuff today” declared Maguire. “But we've had one Solheim”.
“If we could have another one fantastic, but every single one I've been a part of has been incredibly special and no matter where they are in the world, hopefully, I get to be a part of it”.
The Irish fans were incredible this week, thank you everyone 💚🇪🇺🇮🇪@SolheimCupEuro pic.twitter.com/G7jyss7QOM
