45-year-old Irish under-20 record is broken

Cian McPhillips set a new Irish Under-20 record when he won the 1500 metres at the AAI games in Carlow I.T in 3:40.56.

McPhillips had three seconds to spare on former national indoor 3,000m champion Eoin Everard of Kilkenny City Harriers who clocked 3:43.81.

McPhillips record broke the 45-year-old record held by another Longford man Ray Flynn. The time leaves McPhillips the 11th fastest U20 in World this year and the second fastest in Europe.
