Longford are out of the Leinster Senior Football Championship following a 4-22 to 0-12 defeat to Meath at Pairc Tailteann in Navan.
Meath led 2-10 to 0-6 at half-time and the Royals built on their advantage in the second half to run out convincing winners.
The hosts were sharper at the outset and a goal from Shane McEntee helped them to a 1-2 to 0-1 lead after just eight minutes.
Longford registered three of the next four points but were still two points in arrears at the first water break.
A 34th minute point from Bryan McMahon stretched Meath’s lead to four points but Padraic Davis men would fail to score for the remainder of the half.
By contrast, Meath hit 1-3 without reply as a goal from Jordan Morris on the stroke of half-time left Longford ten points down at half-time.
David McGivney and Kevin Diffley scored a point each in the first six minutes of the second half only for both scores to be cancelled out by Meath.
Meath were totally dominant at this stage and a 47th minute goal from Cathal Hickey helped them to a 15 point buffer at the second water break.
Meath subsequently outscored Longford in the final quarter with substitute James Conlon scoring Meath’s fourth goal in the minute.
Andy McEntee’s march on to the next round after finishing with 22 points to spare while Longford’s campaign is over.
