Longford stalwart Mickey Quinn has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
34-year-old, Quinn posted on X; “On to the next chapter. 13 good years” along with a photo in his Longford jersey.
Quinn played over 100 times for Longford, making his 100th appearance in the 2022 Leinster quarter-final with Westmeath. Quinn’s last appearance for Longford was the Tailtann cup defeat to Waterford in May.
The Killoe man played Aussie Rules football with Essendon from 2008 to 2011. After signing for the Bombers as an 18-year-old, he set the record of the quickest debut of a GAA player in the AFL.
Gaelic Players Association CEO Tom Parsons also posted a message in recognition of Quinn's achievements, saying: "Congrats Mickey Quinn, class player, leader and role model for Longford GAA and as a player rep for the (GPA)."
