Mayo native Mike Solan is set to become the next Longford senior football boss.
Ballaghaderreen native Solan, managed Mayo to the 2016 All-Ireland Under-21 championship. Whereas, Solan will be recommended to club delegates at the next county board meeting.
Solan was also part of Andy Moran’s Leitrim backroom team in 2022. Whereas, the Ballaghaderren man replaces Paddy Christie who stepped down as Longford manager last month.

Following the conclusion of interviews, the selection committee put in place to find the next Longford Senior Football manager made its recommendation to the Longford GAA Management Committee this evening.
The Management Committee will, at the next County Board meeting, be recommending to Club Delegates that Mike Solan (Mayo) be appointed as the next Longford Senior Football manager for a 3-year term. Mike Solan, from Ballaghaderreen, is a former All-Ireland Under-21 winning manager with his native Mayo in 2016. More recently, Mike served as assistant manager to Andy Moran with the Leitrim senior footballers in 2022 and 2023.
Mike’s management team will be announced in the coming weeks. Longford GAA Chairperson Albert Cooney welcomed the Management Committee’s recommendation of Mike Solan and his management team and expressed the hope that all clubs, members, supporters, and players will give their full support to the new management team.
