Matthew Murphy's injury time point ensures replay

Matthew Murphy’s late point sent the Leitrim senior football final to a replay.

Murphy equalised for defending champions Mohill as they drew 14 points to 1-11 with Ballinamore in the third minute of injury time.

Ballinamore led 1-6 to seven points at half-time. Wayne McKeon having found the Mohill net with just three minutes on the clock.

Points from Paul Honeyman 3, Wayne McKeown, Luke Murphy and Paul Moran had Ballinamore 1-6 to seven ahead at the break. Jack Rowley, Keith Beirne 0-4 (3f) and Keith Keegan 0-2 with Mohill’s scores.

Mohill slipped three behind after the restart before getting back on level terms via the points from Beirne, Tadhg Mulligan and Evan Harkin.

Mohill went in-front through Jack Rowley and Beirne (free).

However, Ballinamore came back with frees from Paul Honeyman and McKeon. Honeyman looked to have kicked the winning point with two minutes remaining,

While, David Mitchell received a black two minutes into injury time. Substitute Murphy’s last gasp point ensured a replay on Saturday October 12th in Ballinamore.
