Mohill reached the Connacht Gold Leitrim senior football final following a six-point victory over Leitrim Gaels at Avant Money Pairc Sean MacDiarmada today.
The reigning champions led 1-7 to 0-5 at half-time and held off a second-half comeback from Leitrim Gaels to win 1-15 to 1-9.
Liam Keenan’s side led 1-5 to 0-3 on 21 minutes with Jordan Reynolds scoring the game’s opening goal seven minutes earlier.
The teams traded two points each during the remainder of the opening half leaving five points between them at the half-time break.
Leitrim Gaels’ Enda Moreton found the net within eight minutes of the restart and suddenly, just two points separated the teams.
12 minutes later an Aidan Flynn point reduced the margin to a single point but Leitrim Gaels would fail to score for the remainder of the contest.
Mohill amassed five points thereafter and can now look forward to playing Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins in this year’s decider.
