Evan Harkin’s early goal proved decisive as Mohill scored a 1-11 to 0-11 victory at home to St Mary’s Kiltoghert in Leitrim SFC round four.
The result sees Mohill top the championship table and secure a semi-final place. St Mary’s also reach the last four despite tasting defeat.
Harkin found the net five minutes in as Mohill made an explosive start. Keith Beirne added a point two minutes later making it 1-1 to no score.
St Mary’s eventually settled. Oisin Bohan halved the deficit on 12 minutes before Paul Keaney’s pointed free levelled the game 11 minutes later.
Beirne replied with a fine score from play within 60 seconds before points from Keaney and Jack Casey saw the visitors lead 0-9 to 1-5 at half-time.
Daire Farrell gave St. Mary’s a two-point cushion ten minutes into the second half. Mohill subsequently missed two goal chances.
Firstly, Keith Keegan chipped the ball over St Mary’s goalkeeper Sean Reynolds but registered a point nonetheless.
60 second later, Reynolds dived low to produce a fine save from Ronan Kennedy resulting in a 45-metre kick.
Beirne opted to play it short. Impressive interplay followed which culminated in Domhnaill Flynn kicking a fantastic equalising score five minutes from time.
Mohill now had a spring in their step. Three unanswered points from Liam Rowley, Flynn and Beirne (free) saw Eamonn O’Hara’s men emerge victorious.
