Motorsport Ireland have confirmed that right hand drive R5 and R2 cars are now eligible to score points in the Irish Tarmac Rally championship. With the popular R5 cars coming into the country in the European spec of been left hand drive, a number have been converted to Right had drive but up until now while they could compete in the Tarmac rally championship could not be classified in the main results are get championship points. In a statement from the association and following strong representation from a number of drivers who converted to right hand drive, they can now compete and be classified in the results.
4 Rounds of the Irish Tarmac championship have been completed with Monaghan's Josh Moffett the series leader in his Hyundai I20 R5 having taking the victory in Galway and West Cork while Alister Fisher prevailed on the Circuit of Ireland and Callum Devine was the winner last weekend at the Killarney Rally of the lakes. Moffett finished as runner up in both of those events. Next up is the Donegal International rally from June 17 to 19th which will take on an added competitive dimension with all cars now eligible to claim championship points if registered.
