The Hudson Bay Hotel Roscommon senior football championship opened with a surprise defeat for St. Brigids.
First half goals from Darragh Walsh and Ciaran Lawless saw Oran record a shock 2-10 to 0-7 win over Brigids. Brigids only managed two first-half points.
While the 2013 All-Ireland SFC club champions fought back in the second-half, the defending Roscommon intermediate champions had enough to secure a nine point win.
In group A Boyle scored a 2-16 to 13 point victory over Roscommon Gaels. Boyle led 1-8 to five points at half-time.
The hosts held off a Gaels fight back with Daire Cregg’s injury time goal sealing the nine point victory.
The second game in group A, Michael Glaveys versus Elphin was postponed due to bad weather conditions.
