Padraig Pearses ended St Brigid's quest for back-to-back Roscommon SFC titles today with a two-point victory over the defending champions at Dr. Hyde Park.
The sides were deadlocked at 2-3 to 0-9 at the half-time break before Pearses narrowly shaded the second half to win 0-18 to 2-10.
Pearses led 0-5 to 0-0 on nine minutes before St. Brigid’s got off the mark seven minutes later when Paul McGrath found the net.
Ben O’Carroll added another goal in the first minute of injury time but Pearses responded impressively and restored parity by half-time.
13 minutes after the restart, St. Brigid’s moved three points clear before Pearses rallied once more and levelled the game with eight minutes left.
Pearses finished the stronger and emerged victorious after out-scoring their opponents 0-3 to 0-1 thereafter. They'll now face either Roscommon Gaels or Clann na nGael in the decider.
