Padraig Pearses edged out All-Ireland runners-up St. Brigids to the Roscommon semi-final after a marathon in Dr. Hyde Park.
Pearses setup a semi-final with St. Faithleachs after a 15 points to 13 win over St. Brigids after extra-time.
Brigids looked to be on their way to another semi-final, leading by three points with eight minutes remaining. However, Pearses fought back with Declan Kelly’s injury time point forcing extra-time.
The sides had finished 10 points a-piece after normal, sending a second quarter-final to extra-time.
Pearses started the stronger of the sides in extra-time through a Paul Carey free and point from play.
Conor Hand pulled one back for Brigids before another Carey free made it a two point game at half-time in extra-time, 13 points to 11.
Declan Kenny moved it out to a three points. However, Ruaidhri Fallon and Brian Stack struck back for Brigids making it a one point game.
Indeed, Pearses survived a Conor Daly black card as a Declan Kenny free sealed a 15 points to 13 win after extra-time.
Pearses now face St Faithleach’s for a place in the final. Michael Glaveys and Roscommon Gaels are set to battle it out in the other semi-final.
