Padraig Pearses booked their place in this year’s Hodson Bay Hotel Roscommon SFC semi-finals following a four-point victory over Boyle at Dr. Hyde Park today.
The sides were deadlocked at 2-3 to 1-6 at half time before a superior second half display saw Pearses record a 2-9 to 2-5 victory.
Boyle led 1-1 to 0-3 at the first water break . Boyle’s Donie Smith found the net on nine minutes while Conor Payne, Paul Carey and Hubert Darcy slotted over a point each for Pearses.
On 18 minutes Tadhg McKenna scored Boyle’s second goal before three successive points helped Pearses reduce the margin to a single point eight minutes later.
Boyle subsequently moved three points clear in the second minute of injury time before a goal from David Murray levelled matters on the stroke of half-time.
Pearses moved four points clear within as many minutes of the restart. Hubert Darcy slotted over a point before a Lorcan Daly goal made it 2-7 to 2-3.
The sides traded two points each thereafter as Pearses held on for a four-point victory and Pat Flanagan’s men will now face St. Brigid’s in the last four.
