Roscommon and Longford suffered defeats while Leitrim failed to field

Roscommon's hopes of making a return to Division 1 of the Allianz national football league hit a major stumbling block on Sunday when they suffered a defeat to Cavan. The 2 point victory for the visitors to King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde park, has put them in a position to claim the promotion spot as they are now level on 8 points with the Rossies and Meath, who lost out to Monaghan who are top of the Division 2 table on 10 points. Manager Davy Burke remarked that his sides league campaign is over ahead of next weeks trip to Mullingar to take on the already relegated Westmeath

In Division 3, Carlow surged past Longford by 12 points with a dominate first-half performance. Longford came back in the second-half to put some respectability on the score-line as Carlow won out two-20 to 14 points. Carlow had led 2-13 to two points at half-time. Longford boss Mike Solan, couldn't put his finger on what went wrong in the first half.

Leitrim meanwhile conceded their game with Fermanagh, stating they did not have enough fit players to ful-fill the fixture. Speaking to Shannonside Sport on Saturday, Leitrim boss Stephen Poacher was unable to confirm if his side would fulfil this Sunday's fixture with Sligo
