Now or never, do or die, win or bust it’s that simple for Longford.
Bottom of division three, one game to go and nowhere to hide defeat to Laois and 2023 will be spent discovering Ireland in division four.
The maths are simple this time Longford need to win no ifs or buts. They also need Wicklow to slip up against Louth.
Longford’s season has revolved around Mickey Quinn. It’s a new team at this stage and the loss of key players, Quinn being the key has hurt Longford.
Billy O’Loughlin has pleaded for time. The win over Westmeath was good value but the follow-up has been a collapse.
A heavy defeat to Antrim and disappointing defeat and a particularly poor performance against Wicklow in the second-half leaves confidence low in the Longford side.
Laois have been great shakes either! Victories over Wicklow and a round one win over Louth have been followed with poor displays.
This one will be a fight of wits and determination. The league table doesn’t lie and it’s bottom versus third from bottom.
On the final whistle it will be the Laois fans chanting “going down” at the travelling supporters.
