Longford face Antrim in Allianz league division three needing a win but under a different perspective.
A week is a long time in football and a win for Longford may just push them into a late promotion battle.
Five points separate top placed Limerick from bottom placed Wicklow with six points left to play for.
Antrim have already landed wins over Fermanagh and Wicklow. A draw with Laois and defeat to Limerick have been an impressive return for the newly promoted side.
However this is very much not a sprint and more like a long distance 10,000 metres. Longford found the going tough early on but seem to be finding their feet.
The derby victory over Westmeath was somewhat of a surprise and a moral boosting surprise to add to that.
Antrim are a physical outfit and Cavan’s appeal to move their Ulster championship game away from Corrigan Park might just stir some motivation.
This one may be tight and fitness will tell the tail. It might be one were the eager youth of Longford spring a surprise.
