Longford hurlers did not let the delayed throw-in time affect them as they raced into a huge early lead as Lancashire visited Pearse Park.
Reuben Murray the goalscorer on six minutes to create a strong foundation for Diarmuid Cahill’s side.
Points for Murray and Evan Tully kept Longford in control but a Lancashire goal on 22 minutes made things interesting as only four points separated the sides at the break.
The away side started the second-half strongly but Dylan Hennessey’s goal gave the hosts a cushion on the score line once again.
However, much like the first half, a late Lancashire goal made things nervy for the hosts in the closing stages but they held out to claim a big win at home
Longford winning out 2-12 to 2-10.
