Richael Timothy bowed out of the Women's C1-3 3000 metre Individual Pursuit at the velodrome on the opening day of the 2024 Paralympic Games.
The Roscommon rider finished seventh in a personal best time of four minutes five point 247 seconds. The time saw Timothy top the rankings for a period.
However, world record times were set by Great Britain's Daphne Schrager (3:45.133) and Xiaomei Wang of China (3:44.660). They will contest the gold medal race.
Germany's Maike Hausberger and Flurina Rigling from Switzerland will battle it out for the bronze.
Others also posted superior times than Timothy, with the 29-year-old eventually finishing seventh, an improvement on her ninth place from Tokyo.
Timothy still has another three events to compete in, in Paris. Including another at the velodrome, the 500 metre pursuit.
