St. John's Athletic advance in FAI junior cup

St. Johns Athletic are through to the FAI Junior Cup fourth round following a 2-1 win over Sligo Super League side Carbury FC at Lecarrow.

A fine Simon Leonard cross found Jamie Tiernan who volleyed the host’s in-front before half-time.

Five minutes into the second-half the Sligo Champions were level when they scored from close range. With 10 minutes remaining Cian Kelly cross reached Kevin Brennan to find the winner for St. Johns Athletic.

Whereas, Boyle Celtic went down 3–0 away to Mayo Super League side Ballyheane.

The score-line was not a true reflection of the game. Ballyheane only scored their first goal after 66 minutes and the other two came well in injury time.

The remaining game between Cloonfad United and Castlebar Celtic was postponed due to a bereavement at Cloonfad.

In the Connacht Shield, division 1 side St Cuans/Ahascragh United went down 3-0 away to Ballisodare.

Castlerea Celtic kept their hopes of winning the Premier Division Championship alive beating title holders Ballaghaderreen 3–1 at Ballaghaderreen.

Jay McCartney gave Castlerea a 1-0 lead at half-time. Cathal Dineen added a second early in the second-half. Liam Frain pulled one back for a young Ballaghaderreen side, who had claims for a penalty turned down near the end.

With Ballaghaderreen going all out for a winner, Ronan Curran sealed a win for Castlerea Celtic with a long range volley into an empty net.

Castlerea Celtic are a point behind Moore United, however, with a game more played. Boyle Celtic are three points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

Shiven Rovers drew 0–0 with the Castleplunket side C.P Ajax at Newbridge. Both teams were hoping to move up the table with a win but had to settle for a point each.

Roscommon & district league fixtures

In the only fixture in Division one, Ballinasloe Town beat Dunmore Town 2–1 at Dunmore. Cameron O‘Leary and Musadique Fayaz Choudhry.

Tom Byrne replied for Dunmore Town. Indeed, Ballinasloe Town are a point clear of Skyvalley Rovers at the top of the table. However, the Taughmaconnell side have a game less played.

St. Johns Athletic second side are top of the Division two table, one point ahead of Kilkerrin United, following a 4–0 win over nearest challengers Kilkerrin United at Kilkerrin.

Ryan Dowling and Conor Murphy scored one each and Caimin Boland added two for the winners.

Whereas, Cam Celtic Dysart kept their promotion hopes alive with a 6–1 win over Roscommon United at Dysart. Gareth Mulligan and David Cunniffe scored two each with Jamie Curley and John Why adding one each.

In the reserve division Dunmore Town beat Boyle Celtic 6–0 at Dunmore. Castlerea Celtic beat Ballaghaderreen 9–3 at Ballaghaderreen.

Women's League

Whereas, in the Women’s League Ballaghaderreen FC beat Castlerea Celtic 3–2 at Castlerea.

It was a very even game and Castlerea Celtic were unlucky not to get a point from the game. All five goals were scored in the first 30 minutes.

Grace McDermott scored in the first and 12th minute for Ballaghaderreen with Lannagh McGreal getting what turned out to be the winner.
