Boyle Celtic and Moore United share the lead at the top of the Norio’s Roscommon and District League Premier Division.
St Johns Athletic are just a point behind the leaders with Castlerea Celtic a further two points back.
Boyle Celtic beat lowly CP Ajax 5–0 at Boyle. Michael Corrigan gave Boyle a 1-0 lead after 10 minutes. Shane Battles added three more in the space of 16 minutes.
The Castleplunket side were much better in the second-half, but the damage was already done. Jake McCrann added a fifth for Boyle Celtic in the second-half.
Moore United were made to battle all the way before squeezing past a very good Ballymoe FC side 2–1.
They have a game less played than Boyle Celtic. While Moore United started the better, they were rocked when Ballymoe FC won a penalty mid-way through the half. The ever-reliable Damien Goggins converted.
Moore regrouped in the second-half, where Charles Nevin won a penalty. Nevin picked himself up and converted the spot kick.
Within 10 minutes, Jay McPhilbin added a second for Moore but from then on, it was the Moore keeper Euan Kelly who kept his side in front with some excellent saves.
St. Johns Athletic came from behind to beat Castlerea Celtic 2–1 at Castlerea.
Johnny Hester gave the hosts a 1-0 lead early in the game. However, former Moore United and Ballinasloe Town player Alan Duffy levelled the game.
Caimin Boland secured three valuable points for St. Johns who are really back in the title race.
In Division 1 Ballinasloe Town go top of the table when they beat nearest challengers Moylough 79 at Ballinasloe.
Moylough had two great chances to take the lead. Ian Fahy put Mike Kelly through on goal, but he didn’t get a good connection, and the ball went outside the post.
The Ballinasloe Town keeper made a great stop to deny Leo Donnellan shortly afterwards.
Both teams had chances in the second-half. With the teams tiring Lucas Costa scored with five minutes remaining and Ballinasloe Town held out to take all three points, moving a point ahead of Moylough.
Dunmore Town are five points behind the leaders following a 6–1 win over St Cuan/Ahascragh United at Dunmore.
The hosts were the better side throughout and took the lead on 25 minutes. Shane McGrath created an opening for Padraig Costello who volleyed to the net from the edge of the penalty area.
Tom Forde added a second seven minutes later. Ben Glynn added a third just before half-time and completed his hat trick after the break.
Danny Burke completed the scoring for the winners with Ethan O’Leary replying for a young St. Cuans/Ahascragh United side who never gave up.
Rahara Rovers and Kilkerrin United are neck and neck at the top of the Division two points table.
While Rahara are a point better off than Kilkerrin they have a game more played. Rahara Rovers beat a young Cloonfad United side 3–0 at Clover Park Rahara on Sunday.
The first-half saw few chances but with just a minute left Cian Gately gave the hosts the lead following a deft flick from Evan Donnelly.
Cormack Lavin’s first touch was clinical when he slid the ball under the Cloonfad keeper on the hour mark. Cathal Crehan rounded off a good display when he added a third in additional time.
Kilkerrin United secured all three points from their away game against Moore United. Declan Murphy scored the all-important goal for Kilkerrin on 37 minutes.
Cam Celtic/Dysart beat Roscommon United 2–0 at Roscommon. Ben Moran and Conor Dolan scored their goals.
In the Connacht FA Women’s Cup Ballaghaderreen FC played very well away to a powerful Athenry side.
An injury to one of their star players and two very late goals saw Ballaghaderreen bow out of the competition.
Kilkerrin United were victim of the dreaded penalty shootout when they bowed out to a good Swinford side.
The game finished 1–1 at the end of extra time with Swinford winning 5–4 in the shootout. Caitlin Boyle scored for the Kilkerrin side. Castlerea Celtic received a walk over Claremorris.
In the men’s reserve division Dunmore beat Boyle Celtic 4–3 at Dunmore.
Declan Forde James Carr Tom Forde and Gio Moscalu scored for the winners with Stephen Connolly scoring two and Liam Casey one for the losers.
Ballaghaderreen beat Castlerea Celtic 5–3 in the remaining game.
