St Johns Athletic are through to the FAI Junior Cup third round following a 3–2 win away to the Mayo Premier Division side Conn Rangers.
Matthew Donnelly gave the Lecarrow side a 26th minute lead, following a corner kick. The Knockmore side replied before half time and took the lead with ten played in the second-half.
Aaron Flaherty headed home a Rob Owens corner-kick to level the game. Robbie Shine volleyed home a winner for St Johns Athletic with the last kick of the game.
Boyle Celtic took on a young and talented Castlebar Celtic at Boyle but were beaten 3–1. Michael Corrigan gave Boyle Celtic an early lead, but the visitors struck twice before half-time.
Boyle Celtic created a host of chances to get back in the game but failed to take them and near the end Castlebar Celtic added a third.
The Ballinasloe Town v Ballina Town game was called off owing to a mix up over the Referee.
In the Connacht Cup Glen Celtic advanced to the second round when they beat St Cuans/Ahascragh United 7-3 at Glenamaddy.
The hosts were 3–0 ahead at the break and ran out comfortable winners despite a late comeback by the visitors. Ryan McHugh scored four, Jason Connelly two and Willie Comer one for the winners.
Martin Cawley Leo White and Darragh Dowd replied for the losers.
In the premier division of the Roscommon and District League Castlerea Celtic had an impressive 5–0 win over Ballaghaderreen at Ballaghaderreen.
The visitors started on the front foot and following some good passing Adam McDermott scored with just six minutes played.
Celtic kept up the pressure and Niall Higgins and Darren Clabby added two more with 20 minutes played.
The Castlerea defence of Creighton Connaughton Hester and Higgins were very solid and kept the Ballaghaderreen forwards at bay. Adam McDermott added his second and third in the second-half and Castlerea Celtic now look very much in the title race.
Moylough 79 won their first points of the season when they beat Kilkerrin United 2–1 at the League Grounds Lecarrow. Moylough went in front after thirty minutes of play thanks to a Michael Foley goal and Willie Murphy levelled the game when he scored with twenty five played in the second-half.
With 10 minutes remaining Sean Kelly latched onto a loose ball to score the winner for the Moylough side.
In Division 1 Shiven Rovers and Ballinagare/Manor United drew 1-1 in an entertaining and hard fought game at Newbridge.
Tom Ward volleyed the visitors in front from a tight angle with 22 minutes played and Sean Keating levelled the game eight minutes later.
In the local derby game at Dysart Cam Celtic beat Dysart 5-2. Cam raced into a 2–0 lead but Conor Dolan and Peter Cummins had the side’s level at the break. Cam added a third with fifty played and added two more in injury time at the end of the game.
Dunmore Town had a 2–0 win over last season’s champions Ballinasloe Town at Dunmore. Gavin Mullarkey from the penalty spot and Ben Glynn from play gave Dunmore a 2–0 lead and despite being reduced to ten men for a large part of the second-half they held out for the win.
The Women’s League is really close with five of the nine teams in contention Cam Celtic top the table following a hard earned 3–0 win over Ballinasloe Town at Taughmaconnell.
Heather McGrane scored two and Rebecca Collins one for the winners. Castlerea Celtic and Ballaghaderreen shared the spoils following a 1-1 draw at a rain swept Castlerea.
Holly Hopkins gave Castlerea Celtic a half time lead with Ballaghaderreen levelling the game in the second-half.
Kilkerrin United are in second place following a 1–1 draw with Shiven Rovers at Kilkerrin. Maeve O’Brien gave the Newbridge the lead on 38 minutes. Within a minute Caitlin Boyle replied for Kilkerrin United.
St Cuans/Ahascragh United had a valuable 3–1 win away to Colemanstown.
On a horrible day for football credit goes to both teams for playing well. The winners took the lead after five minutes but within five minutes the Colemanstown side were level through Katie Delaney.
St Cuans/Ahascragh added two more in the final 20 minutes. Sarah Noone Deirdre Leonard and Carol Dunleavy scored for the winners.
