Roscommon and Galway played out a division one draw in a game, spoiled by the Roscommon wind.
The Connacht derby ended in a nine points a-piece draw. While Roscommon had the aid of the wind early in the first-half, the wind direction changed.
Robert Finnerty opened the scoring for Galway on six minutes. The introduction of Conor Cox changing the scoreboard there after.
Cox made an instant impact with a free. Cillian O’Curraoin restored the Galway lead on 14 minutes. A Cox free and Daire Cregg from 45 metres put the Rossies ahead on 19 minutes.
Matthew Teirney levelled the game five minutes later. Ruaidhri Fallon and O’Curraoin treaded points over the next two minutes.
It then became the Conor Cox show with three points in a row, including a free to see Roscommon ahead at half-time seven points to four.
The second-half was full of drama. Finnerty and O’Curraoin bringing Galway back to trail by a point. Ben O’Carroll grabbing Roscommon first score of the second-half on 47 minutes.
Diarmuid Murtagh converted a 51st minute free, which surprisingly was their last score of the game.
Kieran Molloy and Matthew Tierney brought it back to a one point game on 54 minutes. Donnie Smith saw red with 10 minutes remaining for an off the ball incident. Smith raising his hand which could the Rossies without one of their stars.
A Paul Conroy free saw Galway level and expected to claim victory.
However, Jack McCabe was shown a black card with five minutes remaining for a trip. As the sides were both reduced to 14.
