With just three series of matches remaining the battle for the Roscommon & district league Norios premier division see’s Boyle Celtic and Moore United level on points.
Moore United snatched a 2–1 win with almost the last kick of the game. In a real thriller Moore took the lead on 20 minutes when Jack Nevin’s volley was palmed away by the Castlerea Celtic keeper, but Josh Lennon fired the loose ball to the net.
Moore Keeper Adam McManus made a great save to deny Jack Higgins an equaliser before half-time. While Moore were the better side in the first-half the teams were well matched in the second.
Gerry Ward levelled the game with a well taken strike after 70 minutes. Just when it looked like the game would finish level, Mark Gannon scored with a fine volley after a Jack Nevin cross.
Any real chance C P Ajax and St Johns Athletic had of catching the leaders were dashed when the two teams drew 2–2 at Tarmon.
St Johns Athletic were the better side for the first half-hour and were 2–0 up by then, thanks to goals from Robby Shine and Chris Hurley. Ryan Larkin pulled a goal back from the penalty spot before half-time.
The Castleplunket side were on top in the second-half but had to wait until near the end to level. Tadgh Jordan won a penalty kick, Ryan Larkin converted.
Skyvalley Rovers and Ballinasloe Town drew 3–3 in an entertaining game at Onagh Park, Taughmaconnell. Mark Duffy and Garry Egan gave Ballinasloe Town a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Tom Butler scored two for Skyvalley Rovers to level the game. Garry Egan converted a penalty kick for Ballinasloe with 15 minutes remaining. Cathal Kelly levelled the game, three minutes from time.
Connacht Cup
In the fourth round of the Connacht cup Roscommon & District League Premier side Moylough 79 travelled to the Sligo super league side Aughanagh Celtic.
Moylough were under a lot of pressure in the first half and found themselves a goal down at the break. Sean McDonagh came into the game for Moylough at half-time and combined with a very good defence Moylough fought back. Leo Donnellan levelled the game on 65 minutes.
With 10 minutes remaining Michael Kelly gave Moylough a 2-1 lead and they held out for a great win. They face fellow Roscommon and District league side Cloonfad United in the next round.
League Division one
In Division 1 the top two sides won their games but with three games remaining Shiven Rovers are five points ahead of nearest challengers Cloonfad United.
Shiven Rovers beat challenger Cam Celtic 4–3 following a thrilling game of football at Newbridge. Rory Cunningham gave the home side a 1-0 lead after two minutes. Cam Celtic levelled the game through Gavin Byrne three minutes later. On 17 minutes, James Mulrooney volleyed a superb second for Shiven following a pass from Keith Murphy.
Adam Farrell won a penalty kick for Shiven Rovers and Keith Murphy converted. However Cam Celtic were quick to reply through David Cunniffe. Rory Cunningham made it 4–2 in favour of Shiven Rovers at half-time.
David Cunniffe made it 4–3 within a minute of the restart but Shiven Rovers held out to take the three points.
Second placed Cloonfad United beat Dunmore Town 2-1 at Dunmore. Cloonfad Jason Reinhardt headed a Shane Fagan corner to the net four minutes before half-time. Thomas Gleeson headed an equaliser 10 minutes later.
Neil Morris restored the Cloonfad lead after 56 minutes and only some excellent saves by keeper Pauric Miskell and good defending by Conor Donnellan and Conor Ruane kept Cloonfad in front.
Roscommon United and Dysart drew 1–1 at Lisnamult. Kavana Donlon scored a spectacular 40-meter volley for the hosts. Daniel Kelly replied for Dysart.
#Ballymoe F C beat Ballinasloe Town’s second side 1–0 at Ballinasloe. The ever reliable Damien Goggins scored a stunning winner after 20 minutes.
Division Two
St Cuans / Ahascragh United remain favourites to win the division two title despite being held to a 1-1 draw away to St Johns Athletic second side.
Kenny English gave St Cuans / Ahascragh United a 1–0 half-time lead. Mark O’Malley equalised in the second-half.
Glen Celtic and Rahara drew 3–3 in their game played at Glenamaddy. Darren Dolan headed Rahara Rovers into a 1-0 lead with five minutes played.
Ryan Duffy and Ryan McHugh scored for the hosts before Shane Mc Cormack levelled the game before half-time, converting a penalty. Darren Dolan headed a third for Rahara Rovers before Ryan McHugh scored a third for the hosts, to level the game.
Women's Trophy
In the women’s trophy semi-final second leg Colemanstown F.C. are through to the final and a meeting with Castlerea Celtic next weekend following a last minute decider away to St Cuans/ Ahascragh United.
The Colemanstown side were 4–3 up following the first-leg at Colemanstown but with 15 minutes played the hosts scored through the reliable Sarah Noone.
After that it was a real battle between two evenly matched sides. With the game in time added on Colemanstown snatched a winner thanks to a great strike from Jessica Doherty.
