League champions Boyle Celtic and Moore United share the premier division lead with the first-half of the season completed.
Boyle Celtic had a comfortable 5–0 win over Skyvalley Rovers at Taughmaconnell. Manager Jake McCrann broke the deadlock after 20 minutes following a 1–2 with Mike Corrigan.
Luka Roddy added a second a few minutes later, finishing off a through ball. Boyle had to wait until the 71st minute to add a third through Mike Corrigan.
In the closing minutes Aidan Dwyer added a fourth before John Finnerty won and converted a penalty kick.
Moore United had a real battle on their hands against Castleplunket side C.P Ajax at Falty Park Moore. However they managed to come away with all three points mainly thanks to a resolute defence and some good saves from their goalkeeper. Josh Lennon scored the only goal of the game.
Castlerea Celtic are in third place, five points behind leaders Boyle, following a hard earned 1–0 win over a good Moylough 79 side in a game played at Castlerea.
With the benefit of home advantage Castlerea Celtic started really well with real chances falling to Michael Conroy, Oisin O’Farrell and Darren Clabby in the first 25 minutes.
From then on Moylough played really well and created some good chances. The only goal of the game came midway through the second-half. Darren Clabby got on the end of Jarlath Geraghty corner kick to win all there points for a relieved home side.
The games between Kilkerrin United and St Johns Athletic was postponed due to a thunder storm and the Ballaghaderreen v Ballinasloe Town game was postponed as a mark of respect to the Ballinasloe Town player Josh Mc Carty who lost his mother.
Division One
Shiven Rovers continue to lead Division 1 by five points following a 3–1 win over Ballymoe F.C. at Newbridge. While Shiven Rovers are a really good side they were fully tested by a good Ballymoe side.
Shiven Rovers were lucky to find themselves 2-0 ahead at the break thanks to goals on 12 and 25 minutes by Rory Cunningham.
Ballymoe pulled a goal back after 10 second-half minutes and only a super save by the Shiven Keeper Shane Delaney denied them an equaliser.
With seven minutes remaining Rory Cunningham, with help from Adam Farrell, Conor French and James Mulrooney completed his hat-trick to seal the victory.
Cloonfad United are in second place following a very late escape away to Dysart. Conor Flynn converted a penalty for Cloonfad after nine minutes. David Frayne added their second on 84 minutes.
Andy Higgins and Conor Dolan had earlier scored for Dysart. With two minutes added on at the end of the game Cloonfad snatched all three points thanks to a second goal from Conor Flynn.
Cam Celtic are still in with a chance of catching the leaders following a 5-1 win over Roscommon United in a game that was switched to Cam.
United took the lead after only five minutes thanks a neat finish from Shane Doolin. Cam were the better side for the remainder of the game and David Cunniffe beat the visitors off-side trap on two occasions before scoring twice for Cam. Centre-back Keith Dolan headed two more for the winners and the fifth came by way of an own goal.
In a really close and exciting game at Ballinagare, hosts Ballinagare / Manor United took all three points from a game against a good Dunmore Town side.
Both teams had periods of domination but the all-important score came after 64 minutes when Ciaran Casey got a touch on a corner-kick for the hosts. Dunmore came really close to getting an equaliser when a stunning volley from Fiachra Manhire came back off the cross-bar.
In Division 2 St Cuans / Ahascragh United are just a point behind leaders Rahara Rovers following a walk over Skyvalley “B”.
Glen Celtic are three points further back following a 4–1 win over St Johns Athletic at Lecarrow. Their leading goal scorer Ryan Mc Hugh scored twice. Gavin Hegarty and Willie Comer added one each. James Heffernan replied for St John’s.
Women's League
In the Women’s League Kilkerrin United beat St Cuans / Ahascragh United 7-0 at Ahascragh earlier in the week. Eimear Keane scored three, Caitlin Boyle two and Aoife McStay one for the winners.
Shiven Rovers beat Ballinasloe Town 6–1 at Newbridge. Laura Farrell opened the scoring for the winners after only four minutes following a good cross from Ciara Lally.
Louise Dempsey volleyed a superb equaliser for the losers on 12 minutes. Lucy Dunican and Laura Farrell added two more for the hosts before half-time. Laura Leahy, Laura Kelly and Lucy Dunican added three more after the break.
St Cuans / Ahascragh United beat Boyle Celtic 4–3 in a thriller at Ahascragh on Sunday. The talented Sarah Noone scored three and Deirdre Leonard added a fourth for the winners with Kate Walsh scoring two and Leah Mc Cawley one for Boyle.
In the reserve League Ballinagare / Manor United beat Moore United 1–0 at Ballinagare. Gerry Ward scored the only goal of the game.
