Roscommon are still awaiting a first victory of 2021 and are now set for a relegation play-off after surrendering a six point half-time lead to lose to Derry.
Johnny Keane’s side led 1-11 to eight points at the break but saw Derry come back to win 1-15 to 19 points.
Roscommon got off to a flying start with early points from Cathal Dolan and Ben McGahonn with a fifth minute Connell Kennelly goal seeing Roscommon lead 1-2 to one point.
Derry’s Darragh McCloskey received a straight red two minutes later as Roscommon built on man advantage through points from Daragh Heavey, Cathal Kenny two from Cillian Egan and three Cathal Dolan free’s helping them lead 1-11 to eight at the break.
Derry however battled back and were level terms by the 23rd minute of the second-half and eventually led by two points in injury time.
Conor Mulry pulled a score back in the third minute of injury time to leave the game 1-15 to 19 points.
Roscommon had a chance to draw level with a seventh minute of injury time free, but Cathal Dolan’s free fell short as Derry won out 19 points to 1-15.
