Rory Carthy’s late penalty goal saw Roscommon Gaels top group A and beat St. Faithleach’s 1-9 to 1-8 at Knockcroghery.
Gaels were four points down midway through the second half before a late surge saw them win by the smallest of margins.
Gaels led 0-4 to 0-2 at half-time before Diarmuid Murtagh’s goal two minutes into the second half gave St Faithleachs a one-point lead.
St Faithleach’s suddenly raised the intensity and opened up a four-point lead 17 minutes later.
Peter Gillooly initiated the Gaels comeback on 51 minutes and it was completed by Carthy 60 seconds into stoppage time.
Meanwhile, the other group game saw Boyle score a 0-21 to 1-12 victory over Western Gaels.
Boyle led 0-11 to 0-5 at the half-time break and held on to win by the same margin in the end.
Roscommon Gaels top group A and will play group C runners-up Oran in the quarter-finals.
Second-placed Boyle can look forward to facing group C winners Clann na nGael.
