2020 60x30 Girls U16 All-Ireland Final
Carragh Kennedy's attempted three out of three juvenile All-Irelands ended in disappointment last Wednesday.
Kennedy was beaten by Kilkenny's Amy Brennan in their Covid-delayed 2020 60x30 Girls U16 All-Ireland final last Wednesday.
Played in the famous old court in Crinkle, Co. Offaly, this game was highly anticipated by handball insiders as it featured two very strong 60x30 players with hard-hitting, aggressive styles.
However the play never quite reached the heights expected. Despite their experience both girls were very nervous throughout and unfortunately, Kennedy wasn't able to capitalise on Brennan's vulnerability.
Both games were almost a carbon copy of each other as Kennedy started both brightly, while Amy made a number of uncharacteristic errors.
Kennedy's serving was too inconsistent to maintain the pressure required to beat the quality Noresider. Slowly but surely, Brennan grinded out the points and Kennedy just didn't have the sharpness to keep her at bay. The final scoreline was 7-15, 7-15.
