Roscommon claimed their first victory in Lidl ladies football league division 3A beating Louth 2-5 to 2-4 at Cooley Kickhams GAA club.
The Rossies were aided by a strong wind in the opening half and led 1-3 to 1-1 at the half-time break before holding on to win by the smallest of margins.
Roscommon were two points up on seven minutes when Jenny Higgins scored the game’s opening goal but nine minutes later, Laura Collins replied with a goal for Louth making it a one-point game.
On 23 minutes, Laura Fleming slotted over a point for Roscommon as the visitors opened up a two-point gap by half-time.
Roscommon dominated the third quarter and Aisling Hanly’s goal on 42 minutes coupled with a Laura Fleming point gave them a five-point cushion at the second water break.
Just three points separated the sides when Ciara Woods scored Louth’s second goal with two minutes remaining. The Wee County added two more points in injury time but still came up short in the end.
