Roscommon are out of the 2020 Electric Ireland Minor Football Championship following a 3-21 to 2-13 defeat to Kerry at the LIT Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.
A strong second quarter saw Kerry lead 2-10 to 1-7 at half-time before going on to win by 11 points.
Roscommon started better and hit the game’s first three points before a goal from Keith Evans moved Kerry two points clear in the eighth minute.
The Rossies responded impressively and a point each from Conor Hand, Eoin Colleran and Darren Gately restored a one-point cushion at the first water break.
Darragh O’Sullivan fired home Kerry’s second goal in the 19th minute before Ryan Conlon replied with one for Roscommon two minutes later.
The Kingdom subsequently hit a purple patch and six unanswered points saw them lead by as many scores at half-time.
Kerry were the dominant side in the third quarter and the Munster outfit led by ten points at the second water break.
Four minutes after the restart, Conor Hand scored Roscommon’s second goal bringing the margin back to six points.
Three minutes later, Keith Evans replied with another goal for Kerry and a subsequent pair of points by Maurice O’Connell made it a nine point game.
Kerry outscored Roscommon three points to one during the remainder of the contest and ran out convincing winners.
