Roscommon missed out a place in the Nickey Rackard cup final after a 22-points a-piece draw with Mayo.
Roscommon failing to convert late chances, where only a win would do as they drew 1-19 to 2-16.
The Rossies staged a good comeback, having trailed 1-10 to nine points at half-time. Two points from Brendan Mulry, Robbie Fallon (1f) and Conor Cosgrove (1f) plus one each from Jack Dowling, Adam Donnelly with Roscommon’s scores.
The Rossies chipped at the Mayo lead. Two points from Cian Murray and one each from Conor Mulry, James Hardiman and Sean Canning left the score 2-14 to 14 points on 54 minutes.
Brendan Mulry’s 56th minute goal brought the deficit back to three points. A Robbie Fallon free and Hardiman from play made it a one point game.
Whereas, Mayo restored their three point lead with seven minutes to play, Roscomon weren’t finished yet.
A Hardiman free and points from Canning and Mulry had the side’s level one minute into injury time.
However, Roscommon needing a win where unable to convert two chances. The draw saw Mayo finish in second place in the group table.
Mayo will now play Donegal in the Nickey Rackard cup final on June first or second in Croke Park.
